Crooked Road 03:00
Crooked road Closing doors, and closing minds Why we just cannot be kind Why do we do what we don’t believe Give someone what they really need What they need Give someone what they really need Ignorance and wounded pride Take control of a troubled mind Never seen so much dread Of the crooked road that lies ahead Lies ahead Crooked road that lies ahead Blood for oil is what I hear them tweet Such hateful things, hard to repeat Empty words, and nothing said About the crooked road that lies ahead Crooked road Those we love may soon be gone Back to the place where we came from But I do believe we can keep our heads On the crooked road that lies ahead Lies head crooked road that lies ahead

Lately I have been impatient with you Been spending time alone in our room I hear the tv through the wall Lately I’ve needed to be by myself I pull a book of poems off the shelf “This Is Just To Say” Sometimes the rain lasts for a day Sometimes it doesn’t seem to go away Maybe I don’t need to apologize for bad weather But I’m sorry anyway Lately Lately Nothing goes according to plan Somehow we’ll find another chance Hold on Always You’ll be the only one for me I’ll love you for an eternity Or two
3.
Like a lone horse standing in the frozen snow Stoic and alone Living in the house where you were grown Down a road without a name Country roses in the kitchen sink Show no cracks or ware Still in blossom red and pink Looking just the same on your parent’s wedding day You’ve never known another home (another home) You’ve never known another way (another way) You’ve never known what others own And you don’t need to know Standing by your side since ‘63 She’s still your girl Just two kids starting a family Where did time go? The last bird has flown Still up at dawn, but done by noon You used to work until the sun went down Those long dog days are far behind The harvest moon is rising in the sky Just sit and watch it rise You climb the stairs they creek and bend Under your feet These walls saw your beginning and they’ll see your end But not tonight, turn out the light

I hoped it wouldn’t come to this but there’s something I’ve got to do Somewhere else I’ve got to be So I’m leaving you just for a while But I’ll come back, you’ll see These hands won’t hold anyone but you My six string goddess you’ll never leave my mind My six string goddess, and when I find the money I’ll come back and take you home We’ll be together ‘till we grow old Six string goddess of mine I tried to sell other things But he says you’re the only thing I’ve got That anybody else might want He didn’t give me what you’re worth But it bought my ticket home I hate to leave you here on your own Those sleepless nights I’m bound to have Wondering if you’ve found somebody new If you’re resting in someone else’s arms I wouldn’t blame you if you did After what I did to you But thinking of life without you is just too hard Thinking of life without you is just to hard I promise I won’t be too long No longer than I’ve got to be I’m fixin’ to get some steady work I’ll be the man they want me to be But just long enough To bring you home to me

Tell Me 04:25
They say you’re packing your bags again Pulling your roots up from the ground You say you’re feeling restless I know you’ll go wherever you are bound But tell me what it is you’re looking for Will you know it when you find it? Tell me what you think you’ll see Don’t you know I’d be yours if you’d stayed here next to me? The seasons are changing again I’m worried these winds might carry you away I’m hoping that the snow will fall fast Their will be no escape and here you’ll have to stay But tell me what it is you’re looking for Will you know it when you find it? Tell me what you think you’ll see Don’t you know I’d be yours if you’d stayed here next to me? There you go trying to feel whole Leaving me here all on my own While you’re away right here will I stay And maybe someone else will come and love me that way They’ll tell me what it is they’re looking for They’ll say it’s me, me and nothing more They’ll tell me they can’t believe they found me They’ll heal my broken heart And all at once I’ll know that love will always find a way

Monsters 03:53
Under the bed their lives a demon in the dark With eyes as red as rubies and a cold stone beating heart He sounds just like the wind when he cries out in the night He lives in the shadows, I hide in the light He slithers at my feet, I hear him call my name I can’t see him but he tells me not to get too brave A lot of things can happen to those who rise and fall He’s heard the others talking they’d prefer me to stay small Mount your steeds, we’re fighting monsters Everywhere, all around Draw your swords, we’re fighting monsters They can’t hurt us now Beneath the tide something lurks down in the deep Nowhere you can run and hide it haunts you in your sleep It doesn’t pay mind to who you think you are You’re nothing more than no one you haven’t come too far Down these crooked steps inside your twisted mind You feel the something’s waiting and watching all the time Or is the fright you fear that no one’s there to see You’re alone and unnoticed uncomfortably free

The Centre 03:20
Keep to the centre, the centre of the wheel Around the world is turning turning turning and inside is the same What are we doing, doing with our time? Running from our conscience, running from our mind And we are running from our bodies But we’re stronger than we think Our thoughts just passing moments, fragments, fleeting Keep to the centre of the wheel And by your side the lotus opens The path of love Five pedals on the lotus Five fingers on the hand What you do is at the centre What is the flavour of the nectar? Let’s invite in some attention To the here and to the now Breathing at the centre centre centre We are at the beginning And fear turns into love And i love you wide and deeper And i love you wide and deeper And the wheel keeps on turning Keep to the centre of the wheel

Hey honey, you seem blue Like there’s nothing you can do You’re looking down when you could be looking up It’s easy if you try So easy you’ll wonder why You let yourself be left out for so long Do you remember you were wild and free Only seventeen Waiting for tomorrow? The world is different than it was back then Now we’re all plugged in With nowhere to go Nowhere to go Hey honey, what d’ya say? Wanna chase those blues away? Forget your phone at home set yourself free Put down that remote control Don’t touch that dial don’t watch that show Lace up your boots you’ve got some place to be If you’re still waiting for tomorrow tomorrow You’ll be waiting for tomorrow everyday If you’re still waiting for tomorrow tomorrow tomorrow tomorrow Hey honey, what d’ya see Clearer than H.D.T.V.? You’ve got a lot of living left in you No need to bet the farm Just hit the broadside of the barn Whatever you do you’ve got no time to lose

Caught you off guard you forgot who you were for a moment Caught you off guard I made you smile You didn’t see that it was me your enemy And you, you’re not so bad yourself Maybe the monster that lives in my head Would be more comfortable under my bed You’re just flesh and blood and you hurt just like everyone else Forgive and forget and forgive and forget And forgive and forget and forgive and forgive and forget Can’t look too long it burns to be wrong Every time every time every time Maybe one look was enough You can learn so much about yourself looking at someone else You are who you are who you Are who you are who you Are who you are who you Are who you are who you are

Why is war what we need for new technology? Super glue and canned food Radar and airplanes There’s gotta be a better way We followed birds into the sky With metal wings we took off Above the trees above the clouds we could fly Some airplanes carry people Other airplanes transport good The little boy falls The fat man waits for his turn Why is war what we need for new technology? The internet and medicine That we use everyday There’s gotta be a better way The red cross flickers on the hospital The receptionist calls out my name Mr. Popeski take a seat Mr. Popeski please roll up your sleeve How much blood is in the blood bank? How much blood is in the ground? Does it wash away After years of rain, or does it stain?

I waited ‘till the last train had gone But you still weren’t there I guess they were right about you You really don’t know how to care I watched other lovers fall into Each other’s arms like lovers do But my arms just keep on waiting for you You really don’t know how to care Why do you have to prove them right Every chance that you get? As soon as you’re out of my sight I never know if you’re coming back I gave you every chance that I could To be the one that I know you should But everything turned out like they told me it would You really don’t know I’ve tried and tried to change you but You really don’t know how to care

about

This Is Just To Say (September 2019) was recorded the way the band rehearses: standing just a few feet apart, facing each other, playing and singing live with no overdubs. The record captures the organic, acoustic feel of seeing Casati live in a small, cozy venue, much like the coffeeshops, house concerts, and theatres the band have visited on tours across Canada in the last two years. The twelve tracks on the band’s new album were inspired by the people and places the band encountered on the road while sharing their music. All three band members wrote songs for the album, taking turns in the spotlight singing lead vocals.

about

Casati Winnipeg, Manitoba

Casati is best characterized as a folk trio with an open mind. In the last three years as a band, they have found their voice as a unique blend of all the music that inspires them: the heartbreak of a country ballad, the vocal harmonies of 1950's and 60's pop, and the instrumental virtuosity of jazz and classical music, creating a sound that is familiar yet original. ... more
